Lion

The lion is a symbol of strength and courage, earning its title as the "king of the jungle." Male lions are distinguished by their majestic manes, which grow thicker with age and act as a sign of dominance. Lions are social cats, living in prides where males protect the territory while lionesses hunt and care for the cubs.

At the zoo, lions are housed in large enclosures that feature trees, rocks, and open spaces for lounging. Behind the scenes, their diet consists of raw meat, often supplemented with bones for enrichment and dental health. Zookeepers also provide activities such as scent marking and large prey-shaped toys to encourage natural behaviors. Visitors are always impressed by the lion’s powerful roar, which serves as a territorial call and can be heard from miles away.
