Jellyfish

Jellyfish are among the most mesmerizing creatures in the animal kingdom, with their ethereal, translucent bodies that drift gracefully in the water. These ancient marine animals lack a brain or bones but navigate the ocean with pulsating movements and a delicate network of nerves.

In the zoo’s aquarium, jellyfish exhibits are carefully designed to highlight their beauty. Circular tanks, called kreisels, are used to simulate ocean currents, ensuring the jellyfish don’t get trapped in corners. Behind the scenes, the water's salinity, temperature, and pH are monitored constantly, as jellyfish are highly sensitive to environmental changes. Their diet consists of plankton and small shrimp, fed to them in controlled amounts to mimic their natural feeding patterns. Visitors are often fascinated to learn about the jellyfish's lifecycle, from the polyp stage to their medusa form.
